Find your town or neighbourhood
Tell me about your Kingston jobKingston town and the wider borough.
My Kingston coverage includes Surbiton, Norbiton, New Malden, Berrylands, Tolworth and Chessington, as well as Kingston town. The town pages explain planning an enquiry for those locations; this page covers the wider borough. Send your full postcode and address so I can check your location and discuss an appointment.
Furniture assembly and small repairs.
Separate the list into assembly, repairs, fitting and finishing, with a quantity and priority for each. Mention anything that depends on another job, such as decorating before new fittings go up.
- Furniture and storage
- For flat-pack furniture assembly, send the model, quantity and delivery status. Include doors, drawers and organisers supplied separately, any assembly already started, and wall securing required by the instructions.
- Cupboards, drawers and internal doors
- Tell me where the door catches, whether the drawer sits unevenly, or which part of the handle moves. Close and wider photos help distinguish adjustment from damaged hardware. See home repairs before buying replacement parts.
- Shelves, mirrors and curtain poles
- For shelves and mirrors, include dimensions, weight and the wall position. For curtain poles, add the curtain heading and drop. Existing holes and supplied plugs do not settle which fixings are suitable.
- Small decorating jobs
- For small decorating jobs, list walls and woodwork separately. Include removal of old fittings, filling and repainting in the scope. Tell me the finish you want; a local touch-up may not match older paint exactly.
A short job list you can adapt.
Example enquiry, replace these details with your own:
- One wardrobe to assemble upstairs, including the required wall securing. All packages and instructions are here.
- Two kitchen cupboard doors catch when closing. I can send close and wider photos.
- One curtain pole to fit. The product is here; please include filling the old holes.
Add your postcode, access details and priorities, then send the product links and photos with your enquiry.
For an upstairs assembly, include the manufacturer's required wall securing and the intended wall position. If you rent or share responsibility for the building, confirm any permission for drilling before booking. For a new shelf or mirror, send its weight and supplied hardware rather than buying extra fixings by guesswork.
Assembly upstairs, access downstairs.
For furniture assembly, tell me where the boxes are, where the finished item will stand and whether the route involves stairs, a lift or narrow doors. Include any wall securing required by the product instructions. Check parking arrangements at the address separately from the assembly: Kingston's visitor vouchers are not available in every controlled or permit parking area, so confirm the applicable option before the visit.

A few useful answers.
Know what to send and what to expect before arranging your job.
Can I include assembly and other small repairs together?
Yes. Send me the furniture models, quantities and other tasks together, with your priorities. The sample job list above shows a useful format. We still need to agree the scope and time needed for the full list.
Can I use a Kingston visitor voucher for the visit?
Check the option for your address before arranging the visit. Kingston Council says visitor vouchers are not offered in every controlled or permit parking area. Where a voucher is appropriate, its session must be activated with the vehicle registration, start date and time. Tell me the proposed parking arrangement; a voucher does not replace private-building access rules.
Do you cover the whole Kingston borough?
I cover the borough of Kingston upon Thames. Send me your full postcode so I can check the location and discuss appointment availability. See all three in areas covered.
What if my flat-pack furniture has missing or damaged parts?
Tell me before we arrange assembly, and send the product link and part numbers from the instructions if you have them. Keep the packaging and contact the supplier about replacements. I need to know what is available to discuss whether the job can proceed; the furniture assembly details above explain what to gather.
Can you adjust cupboard doors that catch or sit unevenly?
Send me a wider photo of the unit and a close view of the accessible hinge, plus a description of where the door catches. Tell me whether it began after assembly, moving the unit or changing the flooring. I can discuss adjustment or repair once I understand the problem. See fitting and repair details.
What do you need to know for wardrobe assembly in a flat?
Send the model and instructions, the floor, where the boxes are and the intended position. Include stairs or lift access, clear assembly space and any required wall securing. The wall, product fixings and permission to drill need checking alongside the assembly. Moving boxes upstairs, dismantling an old unit and disposing of packaging should be discussed separately in the assembly enquiry.
Can you make good after removing an old shelf or curtain fitting?
Tell me if you want the old fitting removed, holes filled and the surrounding surface repainted. Those are separate tasks to include in the enquiry, and a small touch-up may not match the existing paint exactly. Send me photos and describe your preferred finish through my contact form.
What are your handyman rates?
Labour is £50 for the first hour, then £25 per additional 30 minutes, including VAT. The minimum labour charge is £50 including VAT, even if the work takes less than an hour. Materials are charged at their net cost (excluding VAT) plus 10%, then 20% VAT. There is no separate travel or parking charge. Send your job list and postcode so we can discuss the work, materials and total before booking. See how the rates and quote work.
How much will my Kingston handyman job cost?
For an assembly quote, send the product link, quantity, delivery status and final position. Add repairs as separate items so I can discuss the whole list, including wall securing, dismantling or making good where needed. The price and included work are agreed before booking.
