Richmond, Twickenham and the wider borough.

I cover the London borough of Richmond upon Thames, including Richmond, Kew, Ham, Petersham, Barnes, Mortlake, East Sheen, Twickenham, St Margarets, Teddington, Hampton and Whitton. Richmond town is only part of that coverage. Send your full postcode and address rather than relying on a town name or postcode prefix alone.

Curtain poles, mirrors and small repairs.

Tell me where the problem appears, when you noticed it and what changed recently. Describe the finish you want, including removing an old fitting, filling holes or repainting. A close photo and a wider view help me understand the visible problem.

Doors and everyday repairs
A sticking internal door, loose handle or catching drawer may need different parts from a cupboard hinge repair. Describe the movement and when it started. The home repair service explains the faults to discuss.
Mounting and fitting
For curtain pole fitting, send the window, pole and curtain measurements. For shelf or mirror fitting, include the weight, hardware and preferred wall position. Mention any old fitting to remove.
Decorating and making good
Walls, doors and skirting can be included in smaller decorating jobs. Show the existing surface and explain whether you want a touch-up or a wider repaint. Preparation and the extent of finishing need agreeing together.
Furniture adjustments and assembly
For assembly, send the exact model and all the items to build. For an existing unit, explain what catches or sits out of line. Mention missing parts, damage and any manufacturer-required wall securing.

Several jobs on your list?

Send the whole list with quantities and priorities. Mention jobs that depend on another task, such as painting before a curtain pole is fitted. We will discuss the sequence and what can be included in the visit.

Add your postcode, product links, a close photo and a wider view of each job. Tell me about deadlines and the finish you want, without moving unstable furniture or dismantling equipment for photos.

For a flat, add the floor, lift or stairs, permitted working hours and how tools reach the room. If restricted street parking needs arranging, check Richmond's trader parking application in advance. A new PAYG account needs approval and can take up to five working days to activate.

Fittings, finish and permission to alter.

For curtain poles or mirrors, show the window or wall, the product and any existing holes. Say whether removing the old fitting, filling and repainting are part of the job. For a listed property, ask the council whether the proposed work needs consent; internal alterations can affect its protected character. Mention landlord or building-manager permission where applicable, and check the trader parking arrangements for the address.

A few useful answers.

Know what to send and what to expect before arranging your job.

What if my Richmond property is listed or has original fittings?

Tell me before we discuss drilling, trimming or replacing anything, and show the affected joinery or finish in your photos. Richmond Council explains that listed-building controls can apply inside as well as outside. Ask the council about the actual proposed work; a photograph or a small job description does not establish whether consent is required. We can then discuss the permitted scope and any specialist input.

Is filling and repainting included when a fitting is removed?

Tell me if you want it included. Removing an item, filling the affected surface and matching the finish are separate parts of the scope. Describe the result you want through my contact options.

Can I book painting and small repairs together?

Yes, include the repair and the desired finish in one list. A cupboard adjustment, old fixing holes and a wall repaint are separate tasks, and filling or priming may introduce drying stages. The decorating page explains the surface and paint details to send. We will agree the sequence and included work before booking.

What should I send about an internal door that sticks?

Tell me where it catches, whether it closes and latches, and when the problem started. Mention new flooring, recent painting or other changes, and send a wider view plus a safe close-up. You do not need to diagnose the hinge or frame first. The repair details above give examples.

Can you fit a heavy mirror in my Richmond home?

Send the mirror dimensions and weight, its rear hanging fittings or instructions, and a photo of the preferred wall position. Mention stairs, handling space and an old fitting to remove. The wall, hardware and access need assessing together before confirming the work. See shelf and mirror fitting for the quote details.

Do I need permission before fittings are installed in a rented property?

Check with your landlord or managing agent about the proposed drilling or alterations before booking. Tell me about any building restrictions, agreed working hours or protected surfaces. The access and permission notes above list the details that help me plan the visit.

What parking details should I send for a Richmond visit?

Send the street or private parking arrangement and any zone restrictions. If a trader permit is the appropriate option, Richmond's PAYG application requires an eligible address and supporting evidence of the work. A new account can take up to five working days to activate. Check the arrangement before confirming a date, and tell me about unloading access as well as the parking space.

What are your handyman rates?

Labour is £50 for the first hour, then £25 per additional 30 minutes, including VAT. The minimum labour charge is £50 including VAT, even if the work takes less than an hour. Materials are charged at their net cost (excluding VAT) plus 10%, then 20% VAT. There is no separate travel or parking charge. Send your job list and postcode so we can discuss the work, materials and total before booking. See how the rates and quote work.

How much will my Richmond handyman job cost?

For a fitting or repair quote, send the product dimensions, photos of its intended position and details of any old or damaged fixings. Tell me the finish you want after removal or repair. Materials, making good, access, the price and appointment arrangements need agreeing before booking.
